SuryaHusadha's friend, some time ago I heard news about the illness of a comedian who had a ruptured blood vessel, the cause of the ruptured blood vessel can be caused by hypertension or high blood pressure,
Hypertension has the term silent killer or a disease that kills silently. This is because people with hypertension generally do not experience any symptoms, until their blood pressure is too high and life-threatening. Therefore, it is important to routinely check blood pressure, either independently or by visiting a doctor.
Blood pressure is divided into systolic pressure and diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart pumps blood throughout the body, while diastolic pressure is the pressure when the heart relaxes before pumping blood again.
Hypertension occurs when systolic pressure is above 130 mmHg and diastolic pressure is more than 80 mmHg. Blood pressure that exceeds these numbers is a dangerous condition and must be treated immediately.
Here is the classification of blood pressure in adults:
Causes of hypertension
There are two types of hypertension, namely primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Both have different causes.
1. Primary hypertension
Some factors that are thought to cause primary hypertension include: gene mutations or genetic disorders inherited from the family, physical changes and body functions with age, as well as environmental factors and unhealthy lifestyles.
2. Secondary hypertension
Secondary hypertension can occur quickly and cause more severe effects than primary hypertension. The causes of secondary hypertension are kidney disease, alcohol addiction, sleep apnea, certain endocrine tumors, and side effects of drugs.
Symptoms of Hypertension
A person with hypertension will experience several symptoms that arise, including:
Treatment and Prevention of Hypertension
Hypertension can be overcome by living a healthy lifestyle, such as eating healthy foods, quitting smoking, and reducing consumption of caffeinated drinks. However, if blood pressure is already high enough, patients are also required to take blood pressure lowering medication.
To prevent high blood pressure, exercise regularly and maintain an ideal body weight. Also check your blood pressure regularly with your doctor, especially if you have factors that can increase the risk of hypertension.
